Ready to experience a taste of la dolce vita? Italy is one of our most popular and beautiful destinations, and it’s easy to see why. From the canals of Venice to the heart of Florence, the variety is staggering. We’ve curated 5 distinct walks that capture the incredible diversity of Italy.

This is just a small taste! Use these to test your skills, and then jump into the game to see what other hidden gems you can find.

1. Florence: The Heart of the Renaissance

It’s impossible to talk about Italy without Florence. This walk takes you into the heart of the city, famous for the incredible Duomo (Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore). The challenge here isn’t if you’re in Florence, but how close you can get to the pin! Try using major landmarks in the distance to triangulate your position. The narrow streets can be disorienting, but the Renaissance architecture is a dead giveaway.

2. Venice: The Canal Detective

This is one of the most unique guessing challenges in the entire game. Why? No cars, no roads, no license plates! Your only clues are the canals, the gondolas, and the charming, maze-like alleyways. Pay close attention to the small yellow signs on the corners of buildings; they often point towards major landmarks like the “Rialto” bridge or “Piazza San Marco.”

3. Cinque Terre: The Colorful Coastline

This world-famous stretch of the Italian Riviera is known for its five towns built right into the seaside cliffs. The vibrant, colorful houses are an instant clue that you’re in Cinque Terre. The real challenge isn’t knowing it’s Cinque Terre, but figuring out which of the five towns (Riomaggiore, Manarola, Vernazza, etc.) you might be in. Look for the shape of the harbor or the position of the train station to get your bearings.

4. Milan: The Modern Metropolis

A world away from the ancient ruins of Rome, Milan is the modern heart of Italy. This walk through the fashion district feels completely different from our other locations. Forget ancient architecture. Here, your clues are the high-end fashion stores, modern street signs, and the iconic yellow-and-white trams that are perfect for helping you pinpoint your location.

5. Trieste: The “Expert” Pick

This is one of our “curveball” locations. Trieste is a beautiful port city, but it doesn’t feel like the rest of Italy. Because of its location bordering Slovenia, it was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire for centuries. If the architecture looks more like Vienna or Prague than Rome, and you’re on the coast, you are almost certainly in Trieste. The city is famous for its grand central square, Piazza Unità d’Italia.
